Podcasts are basically the new TV shows & I have fallen victim to this latest trend. Yes, I've become that person driving with the volume up and the voices blaring out of the speakers. The voices that I nod my head in agreement with, talk aloud to and even take note of while at a stop light. At least they aren't the voices in my head I'm conversing with!
ANYWAYS, Duct Tape Marketing...John Jantsch..if you don't listen, listen!
Today on my drive to the yoga studio I listened to an oldie that talked about getting rid of the word content and calling it "The Voice of Strategy". WHAT IS THE MESSAGE WE ARE TRYING TO COMMUNICATE?
Here is how he approached it in 5 steps: (He uses the example of a basement sealing company)
1. What is the problem you are experiencing?
2. Approach it with empathy, "It's not your fault"
(cracks happen in basements, properties shift you can't control that)
3. Paint a picture of what life could look like
(what if you could refinish your basement and put carpet down)
4. The good news is...
(it can look like that because we are here and can solve your problems)
5. Call to action
(tell them to call you to get an estimate)
So write that story. It could be a few paragraphs or a page, but write it...I DID! This is the message that should transcend through your emails, your "about us" on your website, social media, core videos....
Simple, genius and to the point...just how I like it so I had to share!
